This Privacy Policy explains how PR Buddy handles information when you use the PR Buddy mobile app, website, features, content, and related services (collectively, the "App").

PR Buddy is designed as a self-help CRS calculator and Express Entry reference tool. The App is not affiliated with IRCC or the Government of Canada.

1. Summary

PR Buddy stores CRS profile information primarily on your device. We do not sell your personal information.

The App may process or collect limited information for:

  • saving your profiles and onboarding progress locally;
  • showing CRS estimates and Express Entry draw reference data;
  • sending optional draw notification alerts;
  • managing purchases and subscriptions;
  • understanding product usage and app reliability through analytics and diagnostics;
  • responding to support requests.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

PR Buddy may store profile and onboarding information on your device using local app storage. This may include:

  • profile name, profile color, active profile, and profile count;
  • date of birth or age-related inputs;
  • marital status and spouse/accompanying spouse inputs;
  • education, Canadian study, work experience, language test, and spouse CRS inputs;
  • additional CRS inputs such as provincial nomination and sibling in Canada;
  • onboarding progress and draft onboarding answers;
  • notification preference state.

This information is used to calculate estimated CRS scores, resume onboarding, manage profiles, and personalize the App experience.

Deleting the App or clearing app data from your device may delete locally stored profile information. If you enabled notifications, you should also turn them off in the App before deleting it so your push token can be removed from our notification list.

3. Information Sent to PR Buddy Servers

PR Buddy may contact PR Buddy servers to fetch Express Entry draw categories and draw history. These requests do not need to include your profile inputs.

If you enable push notifications, the App sends your Expo push token and platform (iOS or Android) to PR Buddy servers so we can send draw alerts. The server stores the push token, platform, and creation timestamp. If you turn notifications off in the App, the App requests deletion of that push token.

PR Buddy servers may also receive ordinary technical information that web and API servers receive automatically, such as IP address, request time, requested URL, user agent, and error logs. We use this information to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.

4. Analytics and Diagnostics

PR Buddy uses Amplitude and may use other analytics or diagnostic tools to understand how people use the App and to improve reliability.

Analytics events may include:

  • app version, platform, locale, subscription status, and profile count;
  • onboarding progress events;
  • profile creation, profile switching, and profile deletion events;
  • aggregate score-related events such as estimated score, score delta, and whether a profile has an accompanying spouse;
  • language test type and whether it is a first, second, or spouse language test;
  • draw screen, draw category, cutoff, and score-gap events;
  • paywall, subscription, notification, settings, and rate-app events.

Analytics events should not include raw profile names, exact date of birth, raw language scores, full profile contents, spouse details, immigration documents, or free-form support messages.

PR Buddy configures Amplitude to disable IP address tracking where supported and uses analytics for product measurement rather than advertising.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions

PR Buddy may offer paid features, subscriptions, free trials, introductory offers, or in-app purchases.

Purchases are handled by Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, or other payment/subscription providers. These providers may process purchase identifiers, product identifiers, transaction information, entitlement status, renewal status, app store account information, device information, and related diagnostics.

PR Buddy does not receive your full payment card number from Apple or Google.

We use purchase and subscription information to unlock paid features, restore purchases, manage entitlements, prevent fraud, provide support, and understand subscription performance.

6. Push Notifications

If you choose to enable notifications, PR Buddy may request notification permission from your device and obtain an Expo push token.

We use push tokens to send Express Entry draw alerts and related App notifications. Push delivery may involve Expo, Apple Push Notification service, Google/Firebase services, and your device operating system.

You can disable notifications in the App or in your device settings.

7. Support and Feedback

If you contact PR Buddy by email or another support channel, we may receive your email address, message contents, attachments, and any information you choose to include.

Do not send sensitive immigration documents, government account credentials, payment card numbers, or information you do not want included in a support conversation.

8. Third-Party Services

PR Buddy uses third-party services to operate the App, including:

  • Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution and purchases;
  • RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management;
  • Amplitude for product analytics;
  • Expo, Apple, Google, and Firebase services for notifications and app infrastructure;
  • hosting, database, email, and support providers;
  • official government websites and public data sources for reference information.

These third parties process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

9. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the App;
  • calculate and display estimated CRS scores;
  • save profiles and onboarding progress;
  • provide draw reference data and optional notifications;
  • manage purchases, subscriptions, entitlements, and restore flows;
  • analyze feature usage and app reliability;
  • respond to support requests;
  • detect, prevent, and fix fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical problems;
  • comply with legal obligations.

10. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the App, such as analytics, payment, notification, hosting, database, app store, support, and infrastructure providers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, security needs, fraud prevention, protection of rights, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

11. Retention

Profile and onboarding information stored locally remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App.

Push tokens are retained while notifications are enabled or until they are deleted, become invalid, or are no longer needed.

Analytics, diagnostics, purchase, server log, and support records may be retained for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

12. Your Choices

You can:

  • edit or delete profile information in the App where available;
  • disable notifications in the App or device settings;
  • manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play;
  • request support or privacy help by contacting us;
  • delete the App or clear local app data from your device.

Some data may remain with third-party providers, such as app stores, RevenueCat, Amplitude, email providers, or hosting providers, according to their policies and legal obligations.

13. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, app store account, backups, and local app data secure.

14. Children

PR Buddy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

15. International Processing

PR Buddy and its service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice in the App, on the website, or by other reasonable means.

Your continued use of the App after an updated Privacy Policy is posted means you acknowledge the updated policy.
